Falling Behind

Its hard for kids who “fall behind” in school NOT to take one of 4 paths:

1 – they have a recognized talent that provides opportunities to ascend that are less dependent on learning in school.

2 – someone in their world recognizes their danger and mentors them into catching back up.

3 – they accept being behind – while school success remains emotionally important, they will feel ashamed of themselves as learners – ashamed of their learning.

4 – they accept that they can’t rely on their learning to save them – they distrust their own learning –  believing they can’t trust learning they become belief oriented –

Research: how many of the kids “fall behind” and of that group how many ever catch up?
